Started Martial arts training at the age of fifteen, originally learnt various styles including Kyukoshinkai 2 nd Dan Shotokan 2 nd Dan, Wu Shu Kwan 1 st Dan

Started Practising Kendo in 1980 under Sensei Victor Cook 7 th Dan Kyoshi as well as Iaido his other teachers include Kancho Sadataro Ishido 8 th Dan and Shizafumi Ishido 8 th Dan Kyoshi. David was awarded his 5 th Dan in 1993. In 1994 David was invited to join the Dai Nippon Butokukai, In 2000 he was awarded his 6 th Dan and in 2002 David was granted the title of Kyoshi. In 2008 he was awarded his 7th Dan. He is currently the highest graded, non Japanese, in the D.N.B.K. teaching Iaido.

In his many years of practice, David has trained and taught in various countries including, Japan, America, Portugal, Belgium and Israel amongst others.
