What equipment do I need, and when?

The club has spare equipment for you to train with. It is usual to try Kendo or Iaido for a month or so before comitting to buying equipment.

Kendo: You will usually buy the clothing first - the trousers Hakama, and the Jacket Keikogi, then you buy a shinai and a bokken. Costs vary but a hakama, and a keikogi will be about £50, a reasonable shinai is about £20, and a bokken is about £10. The armour can be *much* more expensive!!

Iaido: Again you will buy the clothing first. the outer jacket iaigi and inner jacket shitagi, and hakama will be about £65, a bokken is about £10, and a reasonable sword can be from £250 upwards (this can go very high!)
